I’m Kristen. I love being outside, whether that means taking walks in the woods, looking in tide pools at the beach, listening to, watching, and (yes) talking to wildlife, or getting my hands in the soil and tending to the land. For most of my existence, I lived in Massachusetts, but two years ago, I moved to Northern California to be with the love of my life. The transition to a new place has been challenging, but I’ve found joy in learning about native plants and about the native ecology and peoples of California. I’m on a journey to restore the small piece of land I’m privileged to care for back to its native beauty. It won’t be easy or quick. I’ll be learning as I go and undoubtedly making lots of mistakes, but I will do my best to lift up and share the people and resources that teach and help me along the way. Come with me!
